Job title: Development Engineer Manager
Office location: Spanskih boraca, Belgrade - Hybrid working (3 days in the office)
About the role and the Team:
We are looking for a technically proficient Engineering Manager with deep expertise in Java to lead the development and operation of critical backend systems. This role combines strong technical skills, product ownership, and team management to deliver robust, scalable solutions that meet business needs.
What will you be doing?
- System Leadership: Own the technical vision and operation of Java-based backend services, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Feature Refinement: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize user stories, translating them into well-defined features.
- EDA Expertise: Leverage Kafka to design and implement real-time, event-driven architectures.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor backend developers, fostering a highperforming and collaborative team environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with frontend, DevOps, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in Software Engineering or a related field
- Deep expertise in Java
- Prior experience in event-driven architecture and Kafka - DESIRABLE
- Telecoms experience and/or experience in a start-up or PE environment - DESIRABLE
- Ability to think strategically, provide practical solutions, and make sound decisions in complex and evolving product and customer journey environments
- Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to build and motivate teams, manage change, hold people to account and drive a culture of customer and product focus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
