Application Support Engineer

What is the opportunity?
We are looking for an Application Support Engineer, who will be working across multiple teams to enhance and support the portfolio of high availability, low latency and scalable systems.
In this role, you will be invited to resolve incidents that are disrupting the application service in a timely and efficient manner and in line with business requirements. As we nurture a culture of challenge and growth within Finbet, you would also be empowered to brainstorm solutions and assist with technical issues.

You'll tackle a range of complex tasks, with a primary focus on the following:
- Delivering a professional, customer focused and high-performing second-line support service
- Providing out-of-hours on-call support following the pre-defined schedule
- Taking ownership and resolution of issues logged against applications/systems
- Providing root cause analysis for critical incidents, provide suggestions, improvements and best practices to mitigate future incidents
- Documenting incidents, solutions and potential system improvements
- Daily communication with the client
- Performing daily system checks
- Working closely with other support tiers and developers
To join our team on this position, we would expect you to bring:
- Demonstrable familiarity with SQL (with minimum 1 year of experience)
- Basic understanding of Windows and Linux
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Multitasking skills in order to easily switch priorities as required
We will additionally value:
- Education to at least first-degree level in Computer-Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Mechanical engineering or Technology
- Previous work experience in a related field, ideally supporting a high transaction system
- Familiarity with PL/SQL
- General networking skills, including understanding firewalls, DNS, NAT, etc.
- Familiarity with AWS
