We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (Front End) to join (and help build!) our team. This is an amazing opportunity to work on our Vega Product Suite, a next generation public library engagement suite. This is a new team that is just forming, and we are looking for someone who can help us build our team and design the product.
About you – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
- Minimum Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent, plus 4+ years of front end and UI development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4 or more years’ experience with a broad range of web UI frameworks, most preferably Angular and React framework,
- 4+ years with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web UI and UX design
It would be great if you also had . . .
- Experience with cloud development and AWS.
- Experience developing web applications and services.
- Experience developing with JavaScript frameworks – React, Angular and Node in particular
- Experience with modern automated testing practices.
- Proficient understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
- Experience with relational databases and database design using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
- Experience developing with Sprint Boot and/or Spring Cloud.
- Experience using Docker containers.
- Experience developing in a Linux or Windows environment.
What will you be doing in this role?
- The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for leading development practices, team building, and developing software in a collaborative environment employing Agile development methodologies and helping design and build our entire user experience.
- Lead team efforts to design, build, test, and support new and existing applications in an agile environment.
- Lead team efforts in the identification, design, and implementation of solutions for new features and software defects.
- Produces high-quality and on-time deliverables according to planned project goals.
- Supports QA testing efforts and assist colleagues in troubleshooting production problems.
- Maintains flexibility and strong working relationships with peers and management.
- Lead project architecture and technology selection and best practice discussions and related decisions.
Product you will be developing
The Vega project is a very forward-thinking engagement and customer relations suite of tools for public libraries, to help library administrators reach out to and involve both their patrons and their communities in with more directed and personalized interactions. Vega is an AWS based SaaS multi-tenant platform, with multiple cross functional components which combine to deliver a unified, connected data experience across a library’s internal and marketing data, to a customer interaction management suite that is available for use by public libraries worldwide!

Hours of work
The expected core hours of engagement will be an 8-hour day starting at CEST 10:00 AM and ending at CEST 6:00 PM
