System Administrator

We are looking for a System Administrator to help our team manage, maintain, support and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated, team-oriented individual with a passion for technology. The system administrator will play a key role in the evolution of our IT security initiative, as well as assisting with exciting current and future IT projects.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Responsible for maintenance, configuration, and reliable operations of Linux based computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
Administers and maintains a variety of services (web, mail, FTP, NAT, VPN, SSH, DNS, etc.)
Responds to alerts and incidents and troubleshoots issues and escalates to higher tier support
Responsible for updates on cloud and on premise servers
Monitors performance and maintains systems according to requirements
Performs data backup and recovery
Provides input into infrastructure architecture designs
Participates in disaster recovery planning and exercises
Manages and updates technical documentation and company IT procedures
Troubleshoots software and/or hardware issues and failures within the company
Provides periodical reports for data protection results, security summaries, server update status, etc

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years working as an engineer with Linux to include troubleshooting, tuning, upgrading, monitoring and patching (Ubunty, Debian preferred)
Good understanding of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards
Understanding and basic usage of Git (Gitlab preferred)
1+ years working with Nginx, Apache or similar
Experience with some of the scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl, etc.)
Experience with databases (primarily PostgreSQL) and database management operations (backup, restore, monitoring, replication)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems or related field
Experience in working with cyber (IT) security concepts
Experience with Docker
Experience with a configuration/deployment management tool (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt)
Experience in working with Joomla, Wordpress or alternative
Advanced knowledge of Git version control tools.
