What you’ll do
- You’ll be leading a cross-functional development team (6-10 developers). Your challenges as a team manager include.

- Coaching team members on a growth path that maximizes their potential and unlocks high performance and impact using goal-setting and regular, insightful feedback.
- Ensuring effective collaboration between the team and stakeholders, including our product organization.
- Instigating a continuous improvement habit, including regular inspect and adapt follow-ups.
- Staying on top of team health, as evidenced by sustainable team dynamics and future-proof engineering best practices.
- Identifying valuable candidates to hire and further grow a diverse, resilient and high-performing team.
- Being an inspiring role model for our engineers.
- Establishing yourself as a credible technical leader in the team’s domain.
What you’ll need
- Good interpersonal skills, effective in engaging with and influencing senior engineers.
- Credible, senior development / software engineering experience in a cross-functional team setting using at least one of C++, Java or Kotlin.
- Passion to develop and learn engineering management skills.
- Passion to help others grow and succeed.
- Active listening skills.
- Empathy and ability to deeply connect with others.
- Strong sense of ownership.
- Can-do attitude.
- Senior-level software engineering background and algorithmic skills, strength in software system architecture.
What’s nice to have
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of software engineers.
- Experience running and operating business-critical cloud-based services and APIs (Azure).
- Background in the navigation domain.
Meet your team
We’re PU Directions, a product unit within TomTom’s Location Technology Products technical unit. We develop software for onboard, hybrid, and online navigation applications – used by hundreds of millions of people around the world. Our software includes navigation domain logic for traffic-dependent routing and route guidance, and an innovative Electric Vehicle suite; we change the way digital maps are designed and used for navigation. On our team, you’ll see your work transforming connected and embedded navigation around the world.
