Job Introduction
Magna Global IT is seeking a talented Senior System Engineer to manage state-of-the art and rapidly growing server infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a strategic role in maintaining related Linux server systems, developing processes for governance, and ensuring the security of Magna’s compute resource and its data.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of server infrastructure concepts and how they apply in an enterprise environment. The candidate must be able to see the big picture necessary to create solutions, but also be able to execute the technical steps required to deploy those solutions.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintain a large hybrid Linux server infrastructure and manage the adaption process.
- Regularly evaluate automation processes, and software.
- Keep up with state-of-the-art Linux features and work closely with IT security to enforce and monitor the company's privacy.
- Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Work closely with customer to implement and/or consult requested application solutions.
Knowledge and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field.
- Linux related certifications.
Work Experience
- 3-5+ years of experience designing, executing and supporting Linux server solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with architecting and deploying automated large scale Linux server solutions.
Skills and Competencies
- Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
- Excellent knowledge of Linux distributions (RedHat/Debian) and DevOps driven environment.
- Understand complex Linux server infrastructure designs and potential issues.
- Knowledge about basic core infrastructure services and protocols, including DNS, SMTP, DHCP, and NTP.
- Demonstrated scripting/coding ability. Familiarity with Bash, Python, Terraform, Ansible and other/similar (scripting/automation) tools is strongly recommended.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated infrastructure reports to management and other IT development partners.
- Conform with and abide by all Company codes, regulations, policies, values, work procedures and instructions.
- Able to communicate in English Language (listening, writing, speaking).
