Role Summary

The Autonomy org at Rivian is seeking a Sr Software Engineer, Data Applications to join the Data team who can provide expertise in cloud and data engineering and collaborate with technical and business users. We are seeking a Software Engineer who will be developing large-scale applications using the latest cloud services technologies, AWS resources, and UI frameworks. You’ll be building from the ground up with an obsession towards helping the Autonomy team go as fast as possible and manage applications which supports reading petabytes of sensor data.In this role you will work with the ADAS Cloud, Data, Perception, SIL/HIL, Vehicle integrations & Vehicle Cloud teams, Product Management, and other Technology Partners to leverage best practices and reference architectures highlighting AWS Cloud Platform and Application development best practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, product management, and engineers to define requirements, architecture, and design.
• Work closely with stakeholders to create user-friendly, immersive, and responsive applications. Drive new UX/UI concepts, and effectively communicate and document them.
• Enhance the scalability and performance of applications using in-house, open-source, and cloud-based tools and technologies.
• Maintain high-quality standards by developing automated tests for the produced code.
• Develop full-stack web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks (preferably React).
• Design and implement backend services and RESTful APIs using Go or Python, leveraging databases such as MongoDB for data storage.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and ensure best practices.
• Collaborate in the design and implementation of the overall architecture of the web application.

Qualifications

• Experience leading the project, taking products from proof of concept to production and market launch.
• Strong proficiency in scaling and optimizing the performance of applications using in-house, open-source, and cloud-based tools.
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering and full-stack application development.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and web frameworks (preferably React).
• 3+ years of experience working with databases such as MongoDB or PostgreSQL. NoSQL experience is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with backend languages such as Python, Golang, or Node.js is a strong plus.
• 2+ years of experience with styling, cross-browser compatibility, and design systems.
• 2+ years of experience conceptualizing, communicating, and documenting UX/UI ideas.
• Experience with AWS Cloud services and cloud-based development is a strong plus.
