Senior Database Administrator

Role summary

Database Administrator is responsible for the stability, performance, security, and scalability of database platforms across on-prem and cloud environments. The role covers operational database management as well as advanced architecture, high availability, automation, and mentoring responsibilities, depending on seniority.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available and resilient database environments, including replication and disaster recovery strategies
• Manage database provisioning, backup, recovery, patching, and lifecycle activities
• Monitor and optimize database performance, capacity, and availability to ensure system stability
• Lead or contribute to performance tuning, capacity planning, and advanced troubleshooting efforts
• Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to resolve incidents and improve reliability
• Implement automation, scripting, and CI/CD integrations to increase efficiency and consistency
• Provide guidance on database architecture and best practices across platforms
• Evaluate new database technologies and recommend improvements or adoption where appropriate
• Mentor and support other DBAs, ensuring knowledge sharing and consistent operational standards

Technology scope:

• Relational and NoSQL databases including Oracle, MariaDB, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Cloud-managed databases such as AWS RDS
• On-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments
