Network/Private Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a talented Network Engineer to maintain and optimise the complex ecosystem of private cloud Linux and Windows resources providing valuable services to customers. The candidate will be a driving voice of continuous improvement and realisation of efficiencies as Softek strives to grow in customer base and functionality offered. The successful candidate will work directly with development, and senior network team to support Softek’s product offerings to the financial services industry. Success in this role means you can develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments from which to operate software-as-a-service products. The development and client services teams will rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems. The candidate will need to be experienced with Microsoft or Linux and CISCO operating environments.

The position requires working directly with Softek’s teams in Toronto, Denver and London, making communication and interpersonal skills essential. Systems are operational 24/7 and require work effort beyond standard work hours. 

Responsibilities:

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Linux environment
• Administer and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments
• Manage and maintain IBM Storage assets, ensuring data integrity, performance, and capacity planning
• Implement, and maintain strategies for efficient and reliable data center operations
• Perform regular patching and firmware updates in alignment with security policies
• Configure and support Cisco infrastructure, including IOS switches/routers and ASA/Firepower firewalls.
• Lead vulnerability management efforts using Nessus, including scanning, reporting, and coordinating remediation.
• Utilize SolarWinds for proactive monitoring of network health, performance metrics, and alerting
• Design, implement and maintain infrastructure required to operate high performing application servers and database clusters
• Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware, operating systems, and applications for end users to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
• Collaborate with internal and external cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned
• Work with team members to procure, configure, and maintain data centre resources to meet internal business requirements
• Coordination with internal staff and clients to ensure on-time project deliveries
• Internal technical support and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the office

Skills and Requirements:

• Knowledge of Operating Systems: Preferably expert-level knowledge of both RHEL and Windows Server. Minimum requirement is one of those.
• Networking: Proficiency in Cisco IOS, additional such as ASA Firewalls, and Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) are a bonus.
• Storage: Optional bonus experience managing IBM Storage arrays.
• Optional Security Tools: Hands-on experience with Nessus (Vulnerability Management) and SolarWinds (Orion platform).
• Optional bonus knowledge of Compliance: Previous experience working within a SOC II or similar regulated framework (ISO 27001, HIPAA
• Knowledge of finance and capital markets is optional but a plus

• Sound knowledge and comprehension of English language (C1 and above)
