Network Infrastructure Engineer

We’re looking for a talented network infrastructure engineer to help us develop and optimize low-latency networks for a high-performance blockchain. You'll design and configure high-performance network equipment to optimize block times and throughput. You'll also collaborate with external contributors to shape your work and influence the project's direction.

You'll share your networking expertise with the engineering team, helping them make smart decisions. As our first network infrastructure engineer, your skills will be crucial for many projects.

The ideal candidate has experience with high-frequency trading applications, is a networking expert, and can handle major projects from initial design to completion. Strong communication skills are essential for working well with our team and the broader crypto community.

About Our Team and Your Role

We’re a well-rounded team: half of us are tech whizzes, while the other half excel in building partnerships with data providers, developers, and the DeFi community. Communication is key to our network-driven approach.

Remote Work: Our team is spread across the globe, from the US and South America to Europe and Asia, with an optional office in Porto, Portugal. Remote work is the norm here.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and support global latency-optimized network infrastructure for a blockchain network.

• Support and troubleshoot a wired high-performance network environment

• Take an automated, data-driven approach to diagnosing and solving complex network infrastructure issues such as micro-bursting, jitter, and queuing.

• Own and project manage global network initiatives from requirements gathering, design review, implementation, deployment, and documentation.

• Develop automation tools and take a DevOps approach to improve network management efficiency, deployment, and maintenance of blockchain applications.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience supporting a large-scale global network environment

• Background developing extremely low-latency networking infrastructure, e.g., for high-frequency trading

• Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of IP networking, TCP/ IP

• Advanced knowledge of Switching, Routing (BGP, OSPF) and Multicast (IGMP, PIM)

• Experience working with one or more of the following hardware platforms (Cisco, Mellanox, Arista)

• Experience with scripting languages (Python preferred) and expertise with git and REST or JSON

• Experience working with automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)

• Experience with databases and big data tools (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Splunk, InfluxDB, Grafana).

• Experience with monitoring tools (i.e. Icinga, Splunk, Kapacitor).

• Strong Linux Shell (all utilities) experience

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment

• Collaborative approach to complex problem solving, with a positive can-do attitude.

• At least 5+ years of networking experience

• At least 1+ year of scripting experience

• CCIE certification or equivalent experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Information Technology)

• Previous experience demonstrating strategic thinking skills and maturity in tackling complex problems, dealing with people, technology, and processes
