Junior AI Engineer (Python, OpenAI, LLMs)

## About the Role

Mailody AI is our in-house product: an AI-powered platform that generates and optimizes lifecycle email campaigns for e-commerce brands.

At its core is a Python-based system that orchestrates multiple AI-driven steps, including content selection, copy generation, quality review, and campaign delivery. The product also includes an internal prompt evaluation environment and a React/TypeScript frontend.

We are looking for an AI Engineer who will work directly with our dev COO on the continued development of Mailody AI. This role offers high ownership, fast iteration cycles, and the opportunity to make a real impact on a product used by leading e-commerce brands.

## What You'll Do

* Build, improve, and optimize LLM-powered workflows and pipelines.
* Design and refine prompts, evaluation loops, and model-routing strategies.
* Turn product ideas into production-ready features within the Python backend.
* Run experiments and evaluations to improve output quality and system performance.
* Collaborate closely with product and leadership teams through rapid feedback cycles.
* Contribute to the evolution of an AI product from concept to production.

## What We're Looking For

* Strong technical and computer science fundamentals through formal education or proven project experience.
* Solid Python programming skills and the ability to work within an existing codebase.
* Experience using Git and collaborating in a software development environment.
* Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, or similar platforms.
* Understanding of prompt engineering and AI workflows; experience with agentic or multi-step systems is a strong plus.
* Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
* High level of ownership, initiative, and autonomy.
* Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

## Nice to Have

* Exposure to TypeScript and React.
* Experience with FastAPI.
* SQL and PostgreSQL knowledge.
* Docker and deployment experience.
* Familiarity with LLM evaluation, observability, or monitoring tools.
* Interest in email marketing, CRM systems, and e-commerce.
* Personal AI projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or AI tools built for fun.
