IT System Engineer (focus MS SQL and Windows)

The role

We are on the lookout for an experienced IT System Engineer with focus on MS SQL and Windows. As a System Engineer you would be responsible to manage and optimize MS SQL Server and Windows server infrastructure, provide 2nd/3rd level support, assist with troubleshooting and IT projects, and automate and document technical processes.

How you'll make impact

• Ticket handling (2nd/3rd level) within the Compute team
• Manage, maintain and improve MS SQL Server infrastructure to ensure availability, optimal performance and security
• Maintain and improve the SQL Always-On Cluster, Windows servers, ensuring performance, availability and security
• Assist colleagues regarding infrastructure requests and with troubleshooting
• Support internal IT projects, offering expertise in SQL server, Windows server, and its automation
• Automate standard service requests and infrastructure lifecycle management
• Monitor and proactively address potential issues in the SQL and Windows server environment
• Document technical processes and configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing

What’s important to us

• You have at least three years of professional work experience
• You have precise and meticulous work habits to ensure accuracy in tasks and deliverables
• You display independence and initiative, contributing innovative suggestions for improvement
• Excellent understanding of MS SQL and Windows servers
• Experience in managing virtualization environments and possess good knowledge of VMware infrastructure
• Strong skills in creating, expanding, and adjusting scripts using PowerShell
• You demonstrate a robust technical understanding of foundational IT concepts enhancing your troubleshooting capabilities
• Keen interest in staying ahead of IT trends, demonstrating a passion for understanding and experimenting with emerging technologies.
• In our international environment you can communicate confidently in English, knowledge of German is an advantage
