You will be a member of a software engineering team that supports several products, most notably ScholarOne Manuscripts.
All major new scientific research and advances go through the “peer review” process to before it is accepted as valid. ScholarOne Manuscripts is the world’s premier application for the scholarly peer review process.
Today, one-third of scientific research goes through the ScholarOne Manuscript system.
All major scholarly publishers, and nearly all major academic societies, use the ScholarOne products. Our customers include Wiley-Blackwell, Taylor & Francis, The New England Journal of Medicine, The British Medical Journal, The American Chemical Society, The Royal Society for Chemistry, etc. etc.

Job Responsibilities:
- Full Stack engineer, Java on the backend, and NodeJS or Angular on the frontend
- Responsible for software delivery as a part of the engineering team
- Responsible for reviewing requirements, design, implementation, and unit testing.
- The candidate should have SaaS experience and a track record of building and delivering high quality software in scalable commercial applications.
- Responsible for communicating accurately the status of ongoing work to stakeholders
- Participate in regular Agile ceremonies and work groups
- Ensures self and team develop modules using disciplined processes, adhering to industry standards and best practice guidelines, including security guidelines.
- Ensures self and team carry out unit and other testing, ensuring application meets needs of client and business.
- Identifies ways to improve the operation of own area and to achieve efficiencies and results and assists in process improvement.
Desired Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience working as a software engineer developing commercial software
- 2+ years of experience in a SaaS delivery model
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required or equivalent (Master’s degree is a plus)
- Proven experience with Java development
- CI/CD experience preferred
- Knowledge of working in AWS cloud (EC2, S3)
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Experience with SQL technologies. Experience with other search technologies like Elastic a plus.
- Good understanding of security best practices
- Grasp and analyze complex, multi-dimensional problems
- Work collaboratively with relevant internal groups to achieve short, medium, and long-term results
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
