We seek a telecommute Database Administrator to provide database upgrades, maintaining, evaluating, and improved transaction processing in support of Army software, including installation and sustainment of all test, training, and production and training environments, site installs, customer support, system and infrastructure maintenance at host sites, quality assurance.
This support also includes change and configuration management of current and future versions to ensure continuous support, and the configuration, implementation, and maintenance activities required to deploy new versions (future releases and/or upgrades of application software throughout the life of the sustainment contract) to include interfaces with other systems.
The qualified candidate will:
- Provide database upgrades, maintaining, evaluating, and improving transaction processing
- Assess and support database performance by monitoring evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems and addressing user concerns.
- Secure and support application by contributing expertise to applications, operations, and technical support teams as needed
- Collaborate with applicable SMEs to support troubleshooting the database
- Provide database support for the Microsoft SQL Server, Enterprise database management systems for ten (10) databases
- Provide the operation and management of the systems or system components or databases at operational sites, at Contractor sites, and at test sites which includes but is not limited to administration, data input, data manipulation, and data reporting
- Ensure that all user interface services (e.g., web services) are physically or logically separated from data storage and management services (e.g., database management systems)
- Develop and maintain database description documents such as the Database Design Description (DBDD) and the Database Design Description (DDD) with each build, software delivery, and major release to document the data entities in the system and the Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs), Hardware Configuration Items (HWCIs) and Processing Threads that interact with the data entities
- Coordinate activities with the Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) team in support of SEI design and optimization efforts, including performance tracking of databases in the fielded product, providing analysis of existing DoD Data Repository indexes, schemas and tables to be leveraged or augmented prior to adding new schemas and tables including justifications for new indexes, schemas and tables in the DBDD
- Collaborate with the sustainment team in obtaining periodic database growth rate and performance statistics and to proactively provide data management support
- Support for all integration activity necessary to fully integrate separate development components with the full range of the system
- Ensure all database queries (read, write or delete) utilized stored procedures; no query strings should be hard-coded
Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Enterprise database management systems
- Prior DoD Medical Health Systems experience preferred
