We are looking for a highly motivated and data-driven Data Engineer with a strong interest in fintech and technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining reliable data pipelines, developing data models and supporting our Business Intelligence environment.

 Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to collect, transform and load data from multiple sources.
• Integrate data from APIs, databases, applications, event streams and other structured and unstructured sources.
• Develop and optimise data models to support reporting, analytics and business requirements.
• Design, manage and optimise data storage solutions, data warehouses and data lakes.
• Develop automation and orchestration workflows to improve the reliability and efficiency of data processes.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data pipelines to ensure availability, reliability, performance and scalability.
• Implement data validation, testing and quality controls to ensure data accuracy, integrity and consistency.
• Identify opportunities to improve data architecture, processes and infrastructure as the business grows.
• Support the development of data solutions for analytics, reporting and machine learning initiatives.

 Business Intelligence and Reporting

• Design, develop and maintain BI solutions, including reports, dashboards and scorecards using Power BI.
• Gather and analyse business requirements and translate them into effective data models, reports and visualisations.
• Develop efficient queries and data transformation processes to support reporting and analytical requirements.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of data across reporting platforms and business applications.
• Develop and maintain Power BI data models, datasets, reports and dashboards.
• Conduct data validation, testing and troubleshooting for BI solutions.
• Monitor the performance and usability of reports and dashboards and implement improvements where required.
• Provide guidance, training and support to business users on Power BI, reporting solutions and data literacy.

 Data Governance and Collaboration

• Implement data governance, security, access control and compliance best practices in line with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain clear documentation covering data definitions, data sources, data lineage, data models and reporting standards.
• Work closely with Technology, Product, Finance, Risk, Operations and other business teams to understand their data requirements.
• Translate business needs into practical, scalable and sustainable data solutions.
• Promote good data management practices and help improve data literacy across the organisation.
• Evaluate new technologies, tools and techniques that could improve the company's data capabilities.

 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in Data Engineering, BI Engineering, Analytics Engineering or a similar role.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
• Practical experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Experience with data modelling, data warehousing and data transformation.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI, including data modelling, DAX and Power Query.
• Experience working with APIs and integrating data from multiple sources.
• Good understanding of data quality, validation, governance and security principles.
• Experience troubleshooting data and pipeline issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of software development and version control practices.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

 Desirable

• Experience with Python for data processing, automation or analytics.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics or similar data engineering tools.
• Experience with SQL Server and/or other relational database technologies.
• Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar platforms.
• Experience working with event streaming technologies such as Kafka or similar.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Experience working with APIs, JSON and other data exchange formats.
• Knowledge of data governance, data lineage and regulatory requirements.
• Previous experience within fintech, payments, banking or another regulated environment would be considered an advantage.
• Experience supporting machine learning or advanced analytics projects would be an advantage.
