Welcome to Catena Media’s new series:
At Catena Media, we know that the single most important ingredient of our company’s success is our people. We are all working everyday to make sure that we are evolving in a positive and thriving environment. In our new Series “ Catena Story” you will learn directly from our team members #whycatena is an amazing environment to work in.
The first person we are introducing in this series is Marion Gautier. She recently celebrated her 6th Catenaversary!
Before going further let’s have Fiona Ewins Brown, Catena Media CHRO, introduce her: “Marion is one of the best hires we've made into HR and Catena! In her 6 years, she has developed through 5 different roles into a niche and critical role within the HR team. Her growth professionally, personally and her English skills have been amazing to watch and be a part of, and have earned her the nickname of 'secret weapon' in our HR team.”
Born and raised in the south of France, studied Human Resources Management at University of Montpellier I. My master was mainly focused on Human Resources, but all courses were following the approach of Corporate Social Responsibility and Durable Development. I am a foodie, love long walks with my dog and hours spent by the sea/sailing boats/beach. I also like to practise Skiing; any sliding sport on water or snow, I’m in!
My current role at Catena is:
I’m currently the HR operations and analytics lead. In a nutshell, I maintain the HR department’s data, systems and reporting. It’s a really interesting role for me, as I get to implement, track and analyse HR metrics that provide the HR & TA team’s ideas,
insights and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of our department’s service delivery and value. Each decision in Human Resources has its share of impacts, and backing everything with data ensures that we can be as fair and consistent, all while taking informed decisions.
What has your experience been with our company culture?
The company I’ve joined 6 years ago and the one that I’m working for now are quite different - from a 60 people Malta based unique office to the global organisation it is today. Despite this, some core elements haven’t changed and one constant has been that the individuals compose the culture here at Catena: you will always find support, someone to share an idea with, someone ready to challenge you and help you grow, a smiling face, someone to share coffee with and a great laugh... I think our company culture is a great mix allowing us to challenge ourselves, work hard and grow, whilst respecting that we are all humans from different backgrounds; and great connection and communication between us can move us far.
What is your team like?
My team is incredible! They are a bunch of positive and caring individuals, super communicative, approachable, empathetic. I’m really proud of my team and the work they do for the company and the people, and love the trust and support we have for each other.
What are some things you’ve noticed about our leadership team?
In the actual leadership team, I appreciate the transparency and willingness to share, along with great recognition towards the entire team’s work and effort.
What parts of our mission/ values do you connect the most with?
Diversity is the one close to my heart. The company has always done well regarding diversity, before it was chosen as a company value in the past year - it is something that I’ve noticed and appreciated about Catena from day 1.
What have been your biggest accomplishments on our team?
I’ve grown through quite a few roles at Catena where I've worked on multiple great projects, with some incredible people, so it is hard to say. Each stage of the company has brought its fair share of challenges and accomplishments, but being part of global projects that come to shape and bring positive results are the most satisfying.
What kinds of resources have you taken advantage of ?
Pre-covid I had the chance to attend 2 HR conferences, one in Barcelona and one in London (whilst also visiting the London office and meeting the team there!) It was a great experience. During my time at Catena I’ve also attended various courses which have helped me grow - I’m grateful for those opportunities.
Which benefits are your favourite and why?
Hard to choose! The approach towards flexible and remote working has been great, but I appreciate the Wellness benefit very much too; they are both impacting positively my work life balance. I also cannot not mention the daily lunch provided in the Malta office; that really makes a difference to my day to day!
What’s the most unique part about working here?
It’s going to sound cliche but I am going to go with the people.
How have you grown professionally?
I’ve definitely got the opportunity to grow professionally - I’ve had 5 different roles since I’ve started at Catena, that allowed me to discover different aspects of the HR function from Recruitment to Operations. I’ve also grown personally; I will never forget what it feels like to start a new job, in a foreign country, barely speaking a word of the language - to the many colleagues that didn't speak mine, but helped me with my English, cheers!
Marion’s journey at Catena Media is the perfect example of the possibilities of growth every team member is offered. Opportunities are always offered to talented people!
