Our client is Bausch Health a global, diversified pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and markets a range of products primarily in gastroenterology, neurology, dermatology, and international pharmaceuticals. Due to their further development, we are searching for a motivated Senior System Engineer to join their team in Belgrade.
Job Description
This Senior Systems Engineer role will serve as the lead engineer/architect of the Bausch Health global IT compute, storage, and backup towers.
The Senior Systems Engineer shall be a senior and experienced resource who, as part of the architecture team, will oversee storage, backup, and compute infrastructure while working with cross-functional teams to manage and support the global IT environment.
Reporting to the Manager of Systems Architecture.
Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Architects, designs, perform proof-of-concept tests, and helps to deploy complex systems and platforms meeting clients’ needs and specifications.
- Leads in planning and implementing changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance, architecture, and operational efficiency.
- Designs and oversees the implementation and operation of complex storage and server data backup, data migration, and disaster recovery operations.
- Develops and maintains system and asset inventory, system licensing, maintenance support renewal schedules, and end-of-life system lifecycles and replacements.
- Designs and oversees security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals and ensures they are properly implemented and adhere to company security policies
- Provides Level 4 technical support by troubleshooting problems related to system malfunctions or performance where MSP teams escalate to L4.
- Documents complex procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to systems software and hardware.
- Maintains the company system platform and architecture roadmaps for system hardware and software for up to 5 years in the future.
- Works with Business Applications owners and teams, vendors, consultants, contractors, and IT personnel from other towers to troubleshoot problems and architect new solutions.
- Provides technical guidance and assistance to other IT Engineers and IT Administrators, both within Bausch as well as MSP teams and consultants.
- Create and manage regular reports and trends for storage performance, capacity planning, and firmware or other updates.
- Create and maintain IT technical documentation.
- Create and maintain IT Infrastructure Qualification documentation in accordance with the GxP rules.
- Mentor junior team members and peers and work collaboratively with MSP team members.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software design, management information systems, engineering, or a related field desired
- 10 -15 years minimum of progressive experience in technical solutions development using Microsoft platforms with extensive experience in the design, architecture, and deployment of storage and server infrastructure systems
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing highly available storage solutions (EMC, HP 3PAR, NetApp, Pure, etc.)
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing backup Infrastructure (Avamar, Data Domain, Cohesity, CommVault, Veeam, Networker, etc.)
- Technical experience in Microsoft Core Infrastructure (Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 to 2022), Virtualization (VMWare/Hyper-V)
- Experience in solutions consulting spanning full-lifecycle technical leadership from requirements gathering through to implementation, transition, and operations.
- Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of tiered storage and storage protocols and their implications on virtualized infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Cisco Nexus data center storage fabric switches.
- Comfortable working both independently and in small team environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document efforts and processes consistently and to industry standards. Ability to prepare and present solutions and reports to regular business users, IT peers, and C-level management.
- Experience with converged or hyper-converged infrastructures is a plus (Simplivity and Nutanix)
- Working knowledge of Azure IaaS and PaaS services is a plus.
- Knowledge of computer system validation and infrastructure qualification in the pharmaceutical industry is welcomed.
- Knowledge about ITIL management is welcomed.
- Very good English language skills (C2 or better preferred).
